Submission of a paper will imply that it contains original unpublished work and is not being submitted for publication elsewhere. All articles published in IDEB undergo a rigorous, double-blind, peer review process by leading experts. An initial desk-check process would take approximately 2 - 4 weeks during which the editor-in-chief would check for the scope, initial screening and level of similarity index. Once the manuscript passes the desk-check review, the paper will be sent to 2 reviewers (one internal & one external). The review process takes 4 – 8 weeks to complete. Once completed, the editor will inform the author(s) about the evaluation process results. Based on findings of the review process, the Editor will proceed with the manuscript for publication based on the following outcomes:
- Accept without any improvement : paper will be passed on to the copy-editing phase
- Accept with minor revisions : author would need to revise and submit, but there will be no new review process initiated
- Accept with major revisions : author would need to revise and submit, and the manuscript might initiate a new review process
- Reject the manuscript : based on the review evaluation, if it doesn't meet a certain threshold set by the journal, the paper will be rejected and the author will be informed
In case the paper is accepted, the author(s) will be invited to submit the final manuscript for publication in IDEB and/or to present the paper at one of IDEB's conferences. The editorial process will verify that the final manuscript includes all requested changes by reviewers fulfilling all other requirements before publication.
